This is one of the fine residences of notables from days gone by, located on rue Girouard in Saint-Hyacinthe. Built in 1893 by the lawyer Joseph Roy, prothonotary at the Superior Court at the Saint-Hyacinthe courthouse. This residence is in the Queen Anne style, characterized by the prominence of its galleries and the profusion of towers and gables with an asymmetrical arrangement of volumes and openings.

It was the property of the Honorable Joseph Alexandre Camille Madore, judge at the Superior Court of Saint-Hyacinthe, who bought it from Joseph Roy on February 2, 1905.

Mr. René Saint-Pierre, alderman of the City of Saint-Hyacinthe from 1943 to 1946, became its owner in 1955 until his death in 1972.

Mr. St-Pierre was also a Liberal provincial member of parliament from 1956 to 1966.

It was on April 19, 2004 that this residence was purchased, for renovation, by Dr. Marielle Robert and her spouse Mr. Nelson R. Archambault, who have not stopped since then revamping it so that it regains its former prestige.
