I have always been fascinated by this artist’s broad brushstrokes, laid down with a sure hand, by his disarming spontaneity and his vivid colours. He ended his days in the Maskoutain country, in Saint-Hyacinthe, on 21 December 1976. My painting 0017, Le temps des pivoines, was inspired by his way of working… No wonder I then began an important series of paintings with flowers as their subject, having worked for years alongside my father Gérard in his shop, Aster fleuriste… See the websites: Léo Ayotte (Wikipedia) and Rita fleuriste. Which inspired my painting 0075, on the occasion of the wedding of Benoit Morier and Karina Crespo, my youngest son and my daughter-in-law.

The heritage trail of Saint-Denis, land of the Patriotes of Québec, with its ancestral houses, was a great source of inspiration in my early days as a painter, when my second home stood just beside this magnificent village along the Richelieu River, in Saint-Ours sur Richelieu. Several of my paintings come from this beautiful region. They are: 0015, 0019, 0025, 0026, 0031, 0058, 0072, 0077, 0083, 0085, 0118, 0127 — a dozen paintings to browse through and discover the wealth of history and heritage of this village.
