Story

This row of ancestral houses is located at 2780, 2790, 2810, and 2850 rue Girouard ouest in Saint-Hyacinthe.

The house at 2810 is a Queen Anne style house, so named in honour of the former Queen of Great Britain Anne Stuart, the last Stuart monarch, born on February 6, 1665, and who died on August 1, 1714. Despite 17 (seventeen) pregnancies, none of Anne’s children reached adulthood, and she herself died at the age of 49 after a lifetime of precarious health.

In La Presse of February 21, 2022, journalist Madame Valérie Simard called this exceptional residence the GREAT MASKOUTAIN QUEEN, describing with grace its round tower topped with a bulbous roof patterned with fish scales.

This house belonged to Judge Émile Marin, who sat as a magistrate for 31 years, certainly a record, having inherited it from his wife, Madame Henriette Sicotte, who had acquired it in 1915.
