Couvent des Soeurs adoratrices du Précieux sang de Jésus

On this International Women’s Rights Day, this March 8, 2024, 14 years after the launch of my website ymorier.com,

I pay tribute to a GREAT WOMAN, Catherine-Aurélie-Caouette, who founded in Saint-Hyacinthe the first community

of contemplative nuns in Canada, on September 14, 1861.

The motto of this community of cloistered Sisters, who offer their prayers to the outside world

as a pledge of reparation and spiritual charity, is:

To adore, repair, and suffer, with fidelity, constancy, and generosity

This community once had 42 convents across several Canadian cities, in the United States, and even in Japan.

For lack of new candidates, the Saint-Hyacinthe community has closed, and its magnificent deconsecrated chapel

will serve as a museum for the Ville de Saint-Hyacinthe in the coming years.

To commemorate this convent, this monastery, and this chapel, located at 2520 rue Girouard O., Saint-Hyacinthe

I wanted to immortalize part of this chapel and the small white house of this community, dating from 1826.
