Story
The abbey of Saint-Benoit-du-lac, founded in 1912, has about fifty monks who live according to the monastic rule written by Saint Benoit, hence their name of Benedictines.
Withdrawn from the world, they seek God in the liturgical office, in prayer nourished by meditation on Scripture, and in daily work, in community and under the paternal guidance of an abbot.
On September 23, 1952, the monastery was raised to the rank of abbey, and the Very Reverend Father Dom Odule Sylvain became the first abbot of Saint-Benoit-du Lac.
It was during his abbacy of more than 30 years that, with the financial help of many lay friends, the guesthouse, the bell tower, and the crypt of the abbey church were built. The plans were drawn up by Dom Claude-Marie Côté, monk architect and disciple of Dom Bellot
